Best Music Playlists For Your Summertime Road Trip

08/01/2021Summer Car Travel D & H Enterprises

Are you rusty on road trips? It may be a full two years now since you’ve done the road trip with your family. There’s a lot you may be rusty on-- a checklist of things to pack, what parts of your vehicle to have checked out, how to plan your gas breaks, and how to keep everyone smiling during long trips. One of the hardest aspects of a road trip is keeping everyone entertained and the kids from rioting out of sheer boredom.

If you’re gearing up for a summer road trip in August, and need some ideas, one great resource for creating playlists is the Concord branch of the Costa Contra County Public Library. They have access to a very large selection of music that you can borrow and copy to your home computer, to build a playlist. But an easier way to get a great selection of music for your playlist is to use the application Spotify. It allows you to pick from a vast online library and assemble the music online, to be played back through your phone’s Bluetooth connection with your car.

If you don’t have time to create a full playlist of your own, I’m pleased to say that there are many great road trip playlists online for people of all ages. Here are some ideas for music the family can agree on:

Classic Road Trip Songs - here’s a yacht-rock-infused list of old-time radio hits that’s got an excellent chance of connecting with everyone!

Family Road Trip - this playlist has some connections for your kids, but includes songs you’ve known since you were a kid.

Indie Rock Road Trip - this one is filled with hip artists that are usually shared person-to-person, like Phoebe Bridgers, Neutral Milk Hotel, My Morning Jacket, and Manchester Orchestra.

Summer Road Trip - here’s a good mix of pop classics! A little something for everyone.

Country Road Trip - this playlist is dedicated to country music and southern roads. Lots of twang for your trip, with artists like Darius Rucker, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, and Sugarland.

An Einstein A Go-Go Mix - This is a great selection of alternative hits from 1985-1996 when a small nightclub in Jacksonville Beach, Florida hosted bands and had kids safely on the dance floor. A great mix for one-time goths!

We hope you and your family will have great, safe trips out of town this month. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your car, book your appointment here or visit D&H Enterprises at 2689 Monument Blvd, Concord, CA 94520, and we will gladly assist you!
